Here at Door to Door Auto, we service clients in all areas of Canada, including many Reserves. Tax exemption can apply anywhere in Canada – here’s what you’ll need to qualify:
If you’re an individual buying a vehicle – all you need is a valid status card!
If you’re a band or band empowered entity – An original certificate stating any of the following information:
- that the property is being acquired by an Indian band or an unincorporated band-empowered entity
- In the case of an incorporated band-empowered entity, that the property is being acquired for band management activities or for real property on a reserve
- that the service is being acquired for band management activities or for real property on a reserve
We as the dealer will make sure your new vehicle is delivered to status land. You will need to sign a form provided by us confirming delivery, and take a picture with your vehicle in front of a reserve landmark (building sign, gas station, etc.). We will ensure your status number and the method of delivery is listed on the bill of sale as this will be required for registration purposes.

- What if my status card is expired?
- Unfortunately, we need a current status card to waive the tax. However, a lot of band offices are able to renew your existing card, and either print a new one or write a letter confirming your status.
- I paid taxes on a previous purchase, but I have a valid status card. Do I get a refund?
